Engineer Brubaker Announces Three Key Directors
Summit County Engineer Alan Brubaker today announced choices to fill three critical positions in his office. Ghassan (Gus) Kabbara, P.E. will be Maintenance Supervisor, Lawrence W. Fulton, P.E. will be Chief Deputy Engineer, and Steven C. Brunot will be Director of Administration for the Engineer’s office.
"I am pleased that Gus, Steve and Larry have agreed to join my staff. Each has a wealth of experience and is uniquely suited for their respective jobs. With these three hires, more than eighty years of expertise will be put to work in the Summit County Engineer’s office", Brubaker stated. "We’re going to hit the ground running."
Gus Kabbara, P.E., Maintenance Supervisor
Kabbara, a registered Professional Engineer, has a wide range of professional experience. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 1967 from Youngstown State University and has since taken advanced courses in the areas of Management and Finance. For nearly 30 years, Kabbara ran his own company as CEO of the Martindale Construction Company and was formerly Senior Partner and President of P.C.S.G., Inc. Kabbara also spent the last year serving as a linguist and interpreter for the U.S. Department of Defense in Baghdad, Iraq. Kabbara has been involved in a number of city works over the years as a project manager, project engineer, contracted development engineer and village engineer.
Lawrence W. Fulton, P.E., Chief Deputy Engineer
Fulton has extensive engineering experience in both the private and public sectors. He is currently managing principal and senior project manager at Fultech Consulting Engineers, Inc., a business he has owned for 17 years. Fulton spent six years as Project Engineer and Manager for the Parsons Corporation and before that was the municipal project engineer at Professional Consulting Services. Fulton has served as the appointed Consulting Municipal Engineer for two municipalities in Northeast Ohio. Fulton earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Ohio University, and is a registered Professional Engineer.
Steven C. Brunot, Director of Administration
Brunot has spent the last 18 years working for the public in various administrative roles. He is currently finance director for the City of Macedonia. Under his leadership, Macedonia eliminated deficits in various City funds and created an emergency reserve fund. Brunot also implemented the City˘s five-year financial planning process to coordinate the City˘s capital and operating budgets. In 1999, Brunot launched a consulting firm, Brunot Consulting, Inc., to provide assistance to local governments on financial and educational matters throughout Northeast Ohio. Brunot previously served as the Director of Administration for the City of Tallmadge, where he managed budget preparation, supervised the city˘s economic and community development, and directed the Human Resource Department. Brunot˘s educational background includes a Master of Public Administration from Kent State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science, also from Kent State. Brunot is a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).
"There are still key positions to be filled," Brubaker said. "But I wanted to make sure that we started with the best, most professional staff I could find. These individuals are going to be the foundation for a strong Engineer’s office. I feel fortunate to have them on my team." Brubaker takes office January 6th.
